Welcome back to Cannes!

Bollywood stars always bring their A-game to Cannes, and I am here for it every single year. The sheer cape, the green eyeshadow – this gown is like Britney in the “Toxic” video, but with CLASS.

The color is a little dreary, or maybe it’s just rained every day for the last three weeks and so I need bright colors to cheer me up. But otherwise, this dress is a knockout and those embellishments are on POINT. The 1920s art deco feel of it works so well – those necklaces could have been too much, but the old Hollywood styling brings it all together.

I don’t really understand whether this is a coat or just a dress with a strange seam down the center, but I think I’m on board either way.

J.Mo at her best. Killing it with the plunging neckline/sheer fabric combo. She’s got the commanding presence required to wear those forty-five billion karat earrings with a gown that already sparkles from top to bottom.

Amal Clooney is like a Disney princess who got a great education and a phenomenal career and then after years of self-actualized fulfillment was like, okay, fine, I’ll marry the prince, whatever.

So simple, but also somehow space-age chic, with those fantastic lines and all that structure. Also, I commend anyone who can stand in relatively skinny heels on gravel and not be falling flat on her ass. I for one do not possess that particular skill.

The shoes are distracting, and a more colorful lip wouldn’t have hurt, but this is still chic as all hell.

Meh. Saggy and forgettable.

I’m all for breaking rules about which colors can be worn with which, but this shiny white absolutely cannot be worn with that matte ivory. It’s making my brain hurt.

I’m a little underwhelmed, but the ear cuff is pretty fucking great.

SPOONS, YOU GUYS. SHE’S WEARING SPOONS ALL OVER HER DRESS. SPOONS, AND CHOPARD DIAMONDS. WHERE AM I? WHAT IS HAPPENING?

She’s trying to get a rise out of me. But I will NOT allow myself to be triggered by you, Kristen. I am boldly ignoring your roots AND your nun-by-day, matador-by-night ensemble. You will NOT make my blood pressure rise. I AM IN CONTROL.

  1. A super classy take on any of Britney’s iconic outfits is the adult aesthetic to which I one day aspire. “Yes, I’m still taking my fashion cues from Britney Spears, but isn’t this such a classy spin on it? #ADULT”

Your description of Amal Clooney is perfection.

  2. Karen Mathis

That is one of the best summaries of the Amal Clooney, Queen of the Universe, that I’ve ever heard.
