MILEY CYRUS in Berlin
gown by Jean Paul Gaultier, necklace by Chanel, shoes by Fendi
Now THIS is some diva shit right here, dear readers. This is how Miley should always play it – like the rich bitch drama queen she is, not the ratchet girl she’s definitely not. I fucking adore this absurdly dramatic look on her, from the giant sleeves to that insane necklace. Everything about this is fabulously over-the-top.
NAOMIE HARRIS in New York City
gown by Valentino, purse by Jimmy Choo, shoes by Christian Louboutin
I don’t know how she does it, but Naomie Harris makes a fishnet dress look classy and elegant. The embroidery on this gown is stunning – it’s a lot of look, and if it didn’t fit her perfectly, it could end up looking like a very unfortunate skin disease, but Naomie more than pulls it off. I think the blue snakeskin-looking shoes were a stroke of genius, almost-but-not-quite matching the blue in the dress.
NAOMIE HARRIS in Los Angeles
gown by Burberry Prorsum, purse by Jimmy Choo, shoes by Christian Louboutin
Classic and lovely. We’ve seen a lot of stars in gowns like this one, so it’s not quite as impactful as the previous look, but I still adore this dress on her.
LUPITA NYONG’O in Los Angeles
dress by Prabal Gurung, purse by Charlotte Olympia, shoes by Christian Louboutin
I am practically drooling over this delicious little coat-dress. That collar is insanely fabulous on Lupita, and the styling works perfect, as per usual.
IDRIS ELBA in New York City
suit by Prada
WORKING THE SHIT OUT OF IT. Go on and get it, Idris. This is spectacular.
JANELLE MONAE in Las Vegas
jacket, blouse, and pants by Alexandre Vauthier, purse by Diane von Furstenberg, shoes by Jimmy Choo
You know I love a great pair of ladypants, and this black-and-white ensemble is too perfect for Janelle. Love the ridiculously enormous diamonds and the super-sexy shoes.
MICHELLE DOCKERY in Los Angeles
dress by Erdem, purse by Smythson, shoes by Casadei
I love the expression on her face. “I’m Lady Mary, and you can see my bra! Isn’t it just bizarrely fabulous?!” Yes, Lady Mary, it is. I love all the lace and texture happening on this dress, and I’m glad she kept the styling sleek and minimal to let the dress’s embellishments do all the heavy lifting.
ZOE SALDANA in Los Angeles
top and skirt by Monique Lhuillier, shoes by Christian Louboutin
This sort of pinkish-gold color is a dream on Zoe, from the lips to the top/skirt to the gorgeous shoes. She’s positively glowing.
KRISTEN BELL in Los Angeles
dress by Sachin + Babi, purse by Christian Louboutin
I am loving this little winter wonderland ensemble on Kristen Bell, particularly for a movie premiere about a snowman or something. (I’m not super-invested in it. I’m too busy watching Veronica Mars.)
LADY GAGA in New York City
jumpsuit by Valentina Kova, purse and shoes by Versace
Is it weird that I love this, even though my first thought was, “This is what Lady Gaga should be wearing when she’s 80 years old”? I just think it’s so refreshing to see her in something she can actually walk in without two people holding her up. And the lavender Versace tote? Insanely awesome.
LADY GAGA in New York City
dress and shoes by Atelier Versace, sunglasses by h0les
I love that Lady Gaga is wearing the dress I predicted Miley Cyrus would wear. Sure, it’s a bit exotic ice dancer, but that’s sort of why Gaga pulls it off. I have to say, the gloves were a killer touch. And I’m thrilled to find two consecutive looks where Gaga is wearing normal-height shoes. Gaga and I are both 5’1″, and we need to start wearing that shit like a badge of honor.
AMY ADAMS in Los Angeles
gown by Vivienne Westwood, earrings by Irene Neuwirth, purse by Edie Parker
The color is fantastic and the earrings are drop-dead gorgeous, but I think the draping in the bodice isn’t exactly perfect. And after the hundredth time we see that Vivienne Westwood neckline on the red carpet, it starts to get a little bit dull.
CAMILLA BELLE in Los Angeles
dress by Erdem, shoes by Casadei
This was my Fall 2013 red carpet prediction for Michelle Williams, back when she actually attended red carpet events. But I adore it on Camilla Belle, especially since she seems to be hiding those rather unfortunate new bangs she got recently. I’m not sure the shoes really make sense with the dress, but I love the print on that dress so much that I hardly care.
HELEN MIRREN in London
gown by Bruce Oldfield, earrings by David Morris
I wish it weren’t two feet too long on her, because I would otherwise adore this. And the earrings are MAGICAL.
ALLISON WILLIAMS in New York City
dress by L’Wren Scott, shoes by Giuseppe Zanotti
So close, Allison. Cut a few inches off that hemline, wear literally anything other than plain black pumps, and stop styling your hair like a politician’s wife, and you might actually look your age!
CLAIRE DANES in New York City
dress and coat by Giambattista Valli, shoes by Christian Louboutin
Well, that is certainly . . . a lot to take in. Does anyone else feel like Claire picked out this look just before she dyed her hair, and didn’t realize how badly it would clash with her freshly ginger locks? Even then, I think the matching shoes are beyond overkill. It’s already such a bright color, and with the dress and the coat, there’s already so goddamn much of it. I think I’d like these pieces in isolation, but here, together, with that hair? Nope.
EMMA STONE in Los Angeles
suit by Band of Outsiders, sunglasses by Oliver Peoples, shoes by Kurt Geiger
I don’t know. I think the length of these pants is kind of insane, and I hate how generally wrinkled she looks, from head to . . . well, mid-calf.
DIANNA AGRON at the Napa Valley Film Festival
gown by Louis Vuitton
I still maintain that this would have looked killer on Dakota Fanning, but it’s about a thousand inches too long on Dianna. I couldn’t even tell the brown fabric was there at first, because it starts so low down on her body. Proportionally, this is just too much of a mess to work.
KRISTEN WIIG in Los Angeles
dress and bracelet by Balenciaga, shoes by Christian Louboutin
I really wanted to like this, because the neckline is fabulous and I always want to support Kristen Wiig, but nope. I think it’s too short – not because it’s too revealing, but because it doesn’t hit at the right part of her thigh. And the silly putty shoes make me sad.
KATE BOSWORTH in Los Angeles
top and skirt by Alexander McQueen, shoes by Christian Louboutin
Oof. This looks like a Project Runway nightmare, right before Tim Gunn turns to the designer and says, “I’m concerned that with all these pockets and buckles, she’s going on a safari.”
