Another week, another set of starlets to judge mercilessly.

EMMA STONE in Paris // gown by Gucci, shoes by Christian Louboutin

In case you were wondering – yes, the worldwide whirlwind Spider-man press tour is STILL going on, and yes, when the premieres and photocalls have all come and gone, I’ll be doing a full recap post on Emma and Andrew’s international red carpet mania. Anyway, Emma went unusually dark and dramatic for the Paris premiere (because, duh, it’s Paris), and though the blogosphere had mixed feelings on this particular look, I’m totally on board. I love the hair and makeup, especially the dark lipstick with the sort of 1920s fingercurl-esque hairdo. The dress itself is pretty much a work of art, and though it’d be way too much for most starlets to pull off, I actually think Emma looks incredible, like some deliciously gothic goddess of the underworld.

The jacket seems a wee bit snug, which is stupid on such a skinny dude – his only excuse for a too-tight jacket is hipster vanity. But I’ll give him a break, because the plaid is still astoundingly gorgeous and looks very chic with the gray sweater, button-down, and tie. And Emma’s little white dress is adorable, with the laced-up embellishments, the bow-adorned waist, and the fabulous sleeves. The shoes are underwhelming and the hair and makeup could use some fine-tuning, but it’s still a great look nonetheless.

I wish he weren’t sporting such epically douchey Zoolander face, but his McQueen jacket is delicious and he’s far more put-together than his girlfriend at the moment. Emma, darling, that sad, wrinkly LBD is not your friend, and the giant round-toed pumps with a giant gold heel are somehow simultaneoulsy boring and tacky. Okay, I’m being unreasonably harsh – I actually dig the heel, but a black pump with a plain black dress is too dull for me, even with the funky heel.

KRISTEN STEWART in Sydney // top and skirt by Balmain, shoes by Christian Louboutin

Jesus Christ, could you unclench the fists for a second, Kristen? Maybe if you weren’t so set on looking like the red carpet brings you physical pain, you could fucking relax for a minute and actually enjoy your awesome outfit. The skirt’s a funny length, but it’s a completely killer outfit and it fits her like a glove. The bodice in particular is crazy flattering, and the shoes are fierce. A little less makeup, a little more hair styling, and just a touch of jewelry would make this a great look.

KRISTEN STEWART in Sydney // jacket and pants by Chaiken

This is the most comfortable she’s ever looked. Girlfriend, if pants make you feel relaxed, wear them more! It’s not the world’s most exciting look, and she’s got a thing for wearing pants and skirts that hit at the strangest, most nonsensical places on her legs, but she definitely seems at home in menswear-inspired looks.

DIANNA AGRON in New York City // dress by Tracy Reese, purse and sunglasses by Coach, shoes by Miu Miu

Nix the giant clutch, which crosses the line into over-accessorizing, and damn, girl! What a fun, chic summertime look. I’m no Coach fan, but those sunglasses are indisputably excellent.

LUCY LIU at the Critics’ Choice Television Awards // gown by Atelier Versace, purse by Roger Vivier, shoes by Brian Atwood

I’d have worshiped this look if it were literally any other color but this overdone pink-nude. She’s still positively glowing in it, it’s just a color I’m sick of seeing, and on an already ultra-feminine gown like this, it pushes things into girly-prairie-bride territory. But I love the hair, makeup, earrings, and clutch, and her tits look fantastic, so kudos to Ms. Liu for refusing to age.

CHRISTINA HENDRICKS at the Critics’ Choice Television Awards

Every blog I read tore this look to pieces, but I actually think this is pretty good. As usual, the makeup is a little too shiny and unflattering, but the curly bob is great on her. I’m in love with the sleeves on this gown, with the rose embellishments on her shoulders. The shoes are a little too fussy for an already fussy dress, but the purse is modern and chic. I’d have gone cocktail length to make her legs look a bit longer, but overall, it’s not a bad look from Joanie.

KEIRA KNIGHTLEY at the Los Angeles Film Festival // gown and shoes by Valentino

I love the gown, but nude lips and nude shoes that match her dress and skintone are a bit much for me. Just one more pop of color – a pink lip matching the flowers in the dress, maybe – and a little more jewelry would have taken this look to the next level.

ZOOEY DESCHANEL at the Critics’ Choice Television Awards // dress by Oscar de la Renta, shoes by Christian Louboutin

This dress was already in the draft of my Resort 2013 red carpet predictions post (I’d had it pegged for Taylor Swift) until Zooey managed to get her paws on it first. And as expected, when she loses the black stockings and schoolgirl outfits, she looks infinitely more stylish. Don’t get me wrong, there’s plenty of flaws here, from the purse to the nails to the makeup to the lack of jewelry. But for once, Zooey’s got on a nice dress, bare legs, and a sexy pair of heels, so naturally I’m starting to believe the apocalypse is upon us.

ARIEL WINTER at the Critics’ Choice Television Awards // dress by Collette Dinnigan

She’s cute as a button, isn’t she? It’s not my favorite look on earth, and it could fit her a hell of a lot better, but she’s still working the hell out of it. Shiny nude sandals are not my thing, but she’s got plenty of time to learn about fancy footwear later on.

Cute dress, Alison! Now hire a stylist to work on the details, and you’ll be an overnight red carpet sensation. But I’m not sure I can say the same for her Community co-star . . .

GILLIAN JACOBS at the Los Angeles Film Festival // gown by Ellery, shoes by Jean-Michel Cazabat

Kudos for trying something interesting, but this is all kinds of weird, and not in an enjoyable way. There’s just a few too many wacky design elements, and that floral print looks painfully dated. Let’s just say she really Britta-ed this outfit.

BLAKE LIVELY in Los Angeles // dress by Opening Ceremony, shoes by Nicholas Kirkwood

The dress is fine, but I am not down with that strangely-placed belt. And just because you have a ridiculous, zany pair of Nicholas Kirkwoods does not mean you get to deploy them with your printed sundresses, because this does not work at all.

Lose the sleeves and the fishnet material, hack a couple inches off the hemline, lose the boring shoes and the blue nail polish, and we might have something worth discussing.

I’ve seen a thousand dresses just like this and a thousand more pairs of shoes just like this, so forgive me if I just can’t give any fucks about this look whatsoever.

Oof. That’s way too much print on her, with the high neckline and long, flowy sleeves tapered at the wrist and the matronly skirt. And don’t fucking get me started on those shoes.

Oh, for the love of god. It looks like a crinoline factory exploded on her. This isn’t a dress, it’s a deployed airbag with satin and tulle embellishments. And whatever it is, it’s making me angry.
