March Fabness 2012, Round 1: Gucci Bracket

Round 1 continues with four new pairs of fabulous bitches to judge!

Polls on the Gucci bracket have closed, but vote on the rest of the March Fabness brackets here!

BLAKE LIVELY vs. EMMY ROSSUM

BLAKE LIVELY: top and skirt by Chanel // EMMY ROSSUM: dress by Peter Pilotto, shoes by Louis Vuitton
The blonde Gossip Girl takes on the brunette Shameless star! Are you in awe over Blake’s killer stems, or Emmy’s eye-catching print?

BLAKE LIVELY: dress by Chanel, shoes by Christian Louboutin // EMMY ROSSUM: dress by Derek Lam
A fringed peplum might sound like a bad idea, but Blake pulls off the Chanel look, while Emmy goes bare-legged and fresh-faced in printed Derek Lam.

BLAKE LIVELY: suit by Elie Saab // EMMY ROSSUM: dress by Carolina Herrera, shoes by Christian Louboutin
Blake shows off the money-makers in a low-cut blue suit with just the fabbest shoulder embellishments. Emmy mixes prints like a master and keeps the styling to a minimum.

BLAKE LIVELY: dress by Chanel, shoes by Christian Louboutin // EMMY ROSSUM: dress by Anna Sui
Blake’s sex hair and Grecian gown is a lot of look, but she looks like freaking Aphrodite, so who can complain? Meanwhile, Emmy goes for a matchy moment in an ombre heart print with nails, toes, lips and a clutch to match.

BLAKE LIVELY: gown by Zuhair Murad // EMMY ROSSUM: dress by Christian Dior, shoes by Christian Louboutin
Blake might look like Princess Ariel with her strawberry waves and aqua gown, but does that make her more or less likely to beat Emmy’s fierce LBD and T-strap peep-toes?

Who will it be, dear readers?

JENNIFER LOPEZ vs. MADONNA

JENNIFER LOPEZ: coat by Dolce & Gabbana, purse by Kzeniya, shoes by Charlotte Olympia // MADONNA: dress by L’Wren ScottDivas know you can’t go wrong with a pop of pink, whether it’s a lot or a little. Jennifer Lopez’s gray-collared coat is to die for, but will it beat Madonna’s body-conscious embellished LBD?

JENNIFER LOPEZ: gown by Zuhair Murad // MADONNA: gown by Stella McCartney

Say what you will, but these ladies can bring it when the moment is right. J.Lo’s dipped in glittering molten lava while Madge stuns in blue silk.

JENNIFER LOPEZ: gown by Gucci // MADONNA: gown by Vionnet, sunglasses by Miu Miu
And before you say these bitches take themselves way too seriously (which they do), they unleash their brightest colors and fabbest accessories. Fuchsia! Lavender! Floral shrugs! Butterflies!

JENNIFER LOPEZ: gown by Zuhair Murad, shoes by Jimmy Choo // MADONNA: gown by Gucci, sunglasses by Miu Miu
But eventually, divas in black gowns must face off. J.Lo makes illusion netting her best friend while Madonna covers up, but goes no less glam.

JENNIFER LOPEZ: gown by Zuhair Murad // MADONNA: gown by Reem Acra
Bow down, bitches. And decide the winner.

ELLE FANNING vs. ROONEY MARA

ELLE FANNING: dress by Rodarte // ROONEY MARA: dress by Louis Vuitton, shoes by Givenchy
Let’s praise the March Fabness gods for pairing up two ladies as different as night and day – a precocious thirteen-year-old actress vs. the twice-her-age Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. So – sweet blondes in bright florals, or Audrey Hepburn lookalikes in Audrey-approved black?

ELLE FANNING: dress by Rodarte // ROONEY MARA: dress by J. Mendel
Do you love a teeny little flower child covered in teeny little sunflowers? Or is a plunging eggplant cocktail dress and nude stilettos more your style?

ELLE FANNING: dress and shoes by Louis Vuitton // ROONEY MARA: dress by Givenchy
If you’re looking for the basic little white dress, you’ve come to the wrong place. These very different ladies share a love of some truly intriguing LWDs in surprising silhouettes and shapes.

ELLE FANNING: vintage dress, shoes by Lanvin // ROONEY MARA: dress by Prabal Gurung, shoes by Christian Louboutin
Can you resist Elle’s truly lovely vintage gown? Or is the draw of the Prabal Gurung cut-out dress too tempting to resist?

ELLE FANNING: dress by Marc Jacobs // ROONEY MARA: gown by Valentino
It’s dress-up time, and the ladies pulled out all the stops: robin’s egg blue Marc Jacobs against red Valentino.

Who wins?

CATHERINE, DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE vs. LEIGHTON MEESTER

DUCHESS CATHERINE: purse by Erdem // LEIGHTON MEESTER: dress, purse and shoes by Louis Vuitton
Let’s begin with simple chic: The Duchess is divine in her Erdem dress with lace sleeves that hit perfectly at the elbow. But Leighton shows off her New York Fashion Week style in all-black Louis Vuitton.

DUCHESS CATHERINE: gown by Jenny Packham // LEIGHTON MEESTER: dress by Prada
Do you play dress-up like a princess, in luscious silver silk? Or like an actress playing a girl who think‘s she’s a princess, in funky color-blocked Prada?

DUCHESS CATHERINE: gown by Alexander McQueen // LEIGHTON MEESTER: dress, purse, and shoes by Alexander McQueen
McQueen vs. McQueen, bitches! Kate opts for the soft and romantic, while Leighton stays structured in a white eyelet ensemble.

DUCHESS CATHERINE: dress by Alice by Temperley // LEIGHTON MEESTER: dress by Balmain
Kate again goes for long-sleeved lace, but gives us a lower-cut and body-hugging gown. But Leighton’s a girl who appreciates a funky cocktail dress with pockets, and I can’t deny her that.

DUCHESS CATHERINE: gown by Jenny Packham // LEIGHTON MEESTER: dress and purse by Christian Dior, shoes by Louis Vuitton
When they pull out all the stops, the competition is tough: Kate is every bit the pretty princess in icy pink Jenny Packham, as Leighton takes on Paris in a classic Dior dress and truly magnificent Louis Vuitton heels.

Polls are still open on the Chanel bracket! Do your civic duty, dear readers.

  1. Molly

Oh god…you have just reminded me that Blake cant dress herself and Catherine is boring as hell.

      • Molly

Nope! I dont hate her, I just think she has no style. When you are that hyped up, the more likely I am to be critical of you. It would be different if she wasnt trying to market herself as a fashion icon but she does. Shes isnt like Diana or Princess Victoria of Sweden who are effortless and cant help that they look good. Kate wants it and I cant support that. She is a royal not a celebrity.
