The Week in Celebrity Fashion

Time to ignore your priorities and get your judging caps on, dear readers – it’s time for another weekly fashion recap!

EMMA ROBERTS in Los Angeles
dress and purse by Chanel

Ms. Stone and Ms. Watson better watch their fabulous backs, because there’s another very stylish Emma on the horizon. I could write a sonnet about those shoes, but I’ll spare you the iambic pentameter and just say WANT. NOW. Emma Roberts definitely knows how to take a simple shift dress and make it shine with accessories, and her hair and makeup and deliciously fierce bitchface are all working for me.

EMILY BLUNT in New York City
dress by Zac Posen, shoes by Brian Atwood

It’s almost a little too bridesmaid to work, but I think it manages to stay just on the other side of that line. I do think the dress and the shoes are classic, beautiful pieces, and the jewelry and clutch keep things a little interesting.

JESSICA CHASTAIN in London
dress by Gucci, shoes by Christian Louboutin

I don’t love that super-plunging neckline, but I think everything about this is pretty unstoppably awesome. The tousled hair is all kinds of perfect, and those shoes are clearly to die for. But I didn’t love the very similar incarnation of this outfit on Jennifer Lopez:

jacket and skirt by Gucci, shoes by Casadei

I actually love the kind of snakeskin fabric, but what was a slightly unfortunate neckline on Jessica is a total disaster on J.Lo. Her poor boobs – what did they do to deserve such abuse?

BEYONCÉ KNOWLES and JAY-Z in New York City
blazer by Helmut Lang, purse by Alexander Wang

Photo: FameFlynet

I love everything about this, but that blazer just belongs in my closet, Bey. C’mon, girl, sharing is caring. You’ll never miss it.

dress and shoes by Gucci

It’s a little too shapeless – it really looks more like a smock than a dress – but the shoes are fun and the lipstick is gorgeous.

OLIVIA PALERMO in Nice, France
top and skirt by Zara, purse by Louis Vuitton, shoes by French Sole

Photo: FilmMagic

Careful, Olivia – I’m not sure you can bring that necklace on the plane. Also, I am kind of obsessed with your skirt.

HILARY SWANK in Vienna
dress, belt, and shoes by Giambattista Valli

Photo: Bauer Griffin

I love this dress and those shoes, but I’m not 100% sold on the combination of the two.

KERRY WASHINGTON in Hollywood
dress by Calvin Klein, watch by Movado, purse by Roger Vivier, shoes by Christian Louboutin

Photo: Michael Kovac/WireImage

I’m over leopard-print shoes in general, but I don’t hate them in this specific instance, since they save the look from being a little too underwhelming.

FREIDA PINTO in London
suit and purse by Gucci

Photo: Daniele Venturelli/Getty

Love the suit, but that purse is just COMICALLY large.

ISLA FISHER in New York City
gown by L’Wren Scott, jewelry by Yossi Harari, purse by Roger Vivier

Photo: Landov

This was my Spring 2013 red carpet prediction for Nicole Kidman, and honestly, I think it would have been better on her. Isla is adorable, but you really need to be a tall lady to pull off this deco gown. She looks like she’s a little girl trying on her grandma’s dress.

ASHLEY OLSEN in New York City
sunglasses and purse by The Row, shoes by Hermès

Photo: vogue.co.uk

I don’t hate this, but again, it’s a dress that really calls out for a taller wearer, don’t you think?

ANGELINA JOLIE in Paris
suit and shoes by Saint Laurent, jewelry by Vermeil

Photo: PacificCoastNews.com

She could have given us a little bit of contrast and this look would have been a hundred times better as a result, but it’s still chic.

Pretty, but expected.

ALEXA CHUNG in London
dress by Bella Freud

Photo: Tim P. Whitby/Getty

Honey, we talked about that hair.

ROSE BYRNE in Los Angeles
dress by Emilio Pucci, shoes by Salvatore Ferragamo

Photo: Broadimage

This was my Fall 2013 red carpet prediction for Taylor Swift, but I’m not sure I like it on Rose. And I definitely don’t like it with those shoes, which bring it to a very bridal shower place.

SALMA HAYEK in Venice
dress and purse by Bottega Veneta, jewelry by Boucheron, shoes by Saint Laurent

Photo: Venturelli/Getty

Everything is just a little bit too big. Not fit-wise, but literally – that purse, that bracelet, those shoes – there are so many bulky pieces, and the dress is heavy enough to begin with. There are nice elements to it, but I’m just not a fan of this look overall.

RACHEL BILSON in Los Angeles
dress by Chanel, shoes by ShoeMint

Photo: Splash News

I hate everything except the shoes.

BLAKE LIVELY in London
dress by Gucci, jewelry by Lorraine Schwartz, shoes by Christian Louboutin

Photo: Tim P. Whitby/Getty

Jesus Christ. You get the giant earrings, or the giant cocktail ring, or maybe two of the eight thousand giant bracelets you’re wearing, Blake. You look like a lunatic wearing all that crap together.

JADA PINKETT SMITH in New York City
dress by Blumarine, purse by Jimmy Choo, shoes by Azzedine Alaïa

Photo: Dimitrios Kambouris/WireImage

The dress isn’t great, but it wouldn’t have been so egregiously terrible without the addition of those truly atrocious accessories. Seriously, whose idea was it to pair those shoes and that purse with this dress? Because unless her name is Barbie, I have a LOT of questions.
