The Week in Celebrity Fashion

Let’s start the week off right: with a healthy dose of judgment.

MAGGIE GYLLENHAAL in Washington, DC
dress by Alexander McQueen, purse by Anndra Neen, shoes by Casadei

The dress, the hair, the purse, the shoes – it’s all working. She doesn’t always get it right, but Maggie is absolutely killing it here.

The top has just the right amount of her signature hipster weirdness, I love the skirt, and the accessories are so casually, effortlessly fabulous. Girlfriend is on fire this week.

NATALIE PORTMAN in Los Angeles
dress, purse, and shoes by Christian Dior

Welcome back to the red carpet, Natalie! Love your dress and shoes, but I question the clutch and bracelet/watch – they’re a little heavy for the rest of the look.

KARLIE KLOSS in New York City
dress by Jason Wu

Karlie is not fucking around, dear readers. This look clearly says, “I am the sassiest bitch in the room and don’t you forget it.” The dress is just perfect on her, and even though I’m not crazy about cage-like shoes in general, I think they look awesome with this look.

MICHELLE OBAMA in Berlin
dress by Carolina Herrera

Photo: Sean Gallup/Getty

Adorable. The bows might be a bit much, but she’s so lovely in this dress, I almost don’t care.

KIERNAN SHIPKA in Los Angeles
dress, purse, and shoes by Carolina Herrera

Kiernan Shipka just gets more awesome every day. She is approximately 80% of the reason I hate that this season of Mad Men is over. I need more Sally Draper in my life. Especially when she dresses like this. Those shoes are too fucking cute.

BELLA HEATHCOTE in Los Angeles
dress by Mary Katrantzou, purse by Kelly Wearstler, shoes by Jimmy Choo

Photo: Richard Shotwell/Invision/AP

I think this dress is beautiful – I kind of can’t stop staring at that print – and the shoes and purse work nicely. But the greasy-looking hair and smoky eye aren’t really doing her any favors.

JESSICA CHASTAIN in Shanghai
dress by Preen, jewelry by Bulgari, shoes by Christian Louboutin

Photo: Bulgari

Cute enough, and the shoes are great, but I do feel like she’s worn this dress a few times before.

LEA MICHELE in New York City
blazer by Helmut Lang, top by Brochu Walker, skirt by Kimberly Ovitz, necklace by Switch, shoes by Christian Louboutin

Photo: GG/FameFlynet

I love a good blazer, and I’m relieved we can’t see her sternum for the first time in recent history, but that necklace might just be a bit too huge for such a tiny woman. And the shoes sort of look like torture devices, but I don’t necessarily dislike them.

RASHIDA JONES in Los Angeles
dress and shoes by Carolina Herrera

Photo: Stefanie Keenan/WireImage

Like the dress, LOVE the glasses, hate the shoes.

ALLISON JANNEY in New York City
dress by Antonio Berardi

Photo: Stephen Lovekin/Getty

Allison Janney is perfect. I just want you all to know that. Her dress and necklace are awesome, and even though her shoes are boring, she is a goddess.

NAYA RIVERA in Hollywood
dress by Naeem Khan, jewelry by Kara Ackerman

Photo: Michael Buckner/Getty

I don’t know. The neckline is just strange, and the shoes are a little much with the already glitter-embellished dress. I can’t say I like it, but it’s not the worst thing she wore this week.

Are you a middle-aged mobster’s wife on a yacht? No? Then WHY ARE YOU DRESSED LIKE ONE?

KRYSTEN RITTER in Los Angeles
dress by Thakoon, purse by Jimmy Choo

Photo: Sara De Boer/Startraksphoto.com

ENOUGH PEPLUMS. And the fact that it’s bright yellow is only making me hate it more.

The shape is somehow strange on her, making her look like a doll instead of a human. I’ve seen enough of those white pumps on the red carpet, and I think they’re wrong for this dress. But that purse? What was she smoking when she paired that with this look?

AMY ADAMS in Los Angeles
top, skirt, and shoes by Carolina Herrera, jewelry by Graziela

Photo: Stefanie Keenan/WireImage

You look like a mildly rebellious nun.

CAMILLA BELLE in Los Angeles
top and skirt by Carolina Herrera, shoes by Christian Louboutin

I do not understand the tassels hanging off her boobs and sleeves, and I certainly cannot comprehend how those Barbie shoes ended up with this pirate wench look.

JULIANNE HOUGH in Los Angeles
dress by Naven, purse by Edie Parker

Photo: Michael Simon/Startraks

She just looks naked. With a peplum made of skin. That sounds WAY more disgusting than it did in my head.

top and pants by Monique Lhuillier, purse by Judith Leiber

I SWEAR I have seen old ladies in Atlantic City wearing this exact print.

HAYDEN PANETTIERE in Milan
top, purse, and shoes by Giorgio Armani

Photo: Venturelli/WireImage

Listen, I’m all for lady pants, but she’s got to be fucking kidding me with those giant bows. She looks like a toddler in platform heels.
