The Week in Celebrity Fashion, Part 1

From Sally Draper to Betty Draper, let’s judge the best and worst of this week’s red carpet fashion.

KIERNAN SHIPKA in Los Angeles
dress by Preen, shoes by Jimmy Choo

EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS IS FLAWLESS. LONG LIVE SALLY DRAPER.

LÉA SEYDOUX in Beijing
gown by Miu Miu

A gorgeous textile if there ever was one. Ms. Seydoux doesn’t always get it right, but when she does, she REALLY fucking does.

LUPITA NYONG’O in Los Angeles
dress by Antonio Berardi, purse by Judith Leiber, shoes by Christian Louboutin

Lupita Nyong’o is single-handedly making matchy-matchiness cool again. Look at those side panels, matching the gorgeous shoes. All that matching could look childish on some, but it looks effortlessly chic on Lupita.

GEMMA ARTERTON in London
gown by Prada

Simple, but heavenly. If I were a thousand feet taller, I’d get married in this dress.

CAMILLA BELLE in Los Angeles
blouse and skirt by Monique Lhuillier, purse and shoes by Jimmy Choo

The proportions are a little off, but Camilla’s shape is easy enough to dress that even the awkward skirt length works on her. I love the combination of gray and black lace, and the lipstick pulls the look together brilliantly.

EMMY ROSSUM in Los Angeles
jacket by Reese + Riley, dress by Kaufmanfranco, purse and shoes by Jimmy Choo

Photo: Donato Sardella/Getty

What a terrific little outfit. I want to steal every single thing she’s wearing, starting with the tuxedo jacket. Unfortunately, even the most stylish stars seem to lose their minds altogether when it comes to Coachella fashion…

dress by H&M, purse by Jimmy Choo

The dress doesn’t come close to fitting her, but that’s permissible at a music festival. And I’m pretty sure Coachella doesn’t let anyone in unless they’re wearing at least fifteen bracelets. But even if what’s happening below the neck is salvageable, that head piece is NOT. Emmy, since apparently no one in your life is willing to say this to you, let me just say YOU LOOK LIKE YOU’RE WEARING A TIARA MADE OF TOILET PAPER. GO HOME.

EMMA STONE in London
blazer and blouse by Saint Laurent, jeans by Rag & Bone, sunglasses by Oliver Peoples, shoes by Christian Louboutin

Street style perfection. I know I’ve already mentally stolen Emmy Rossum’s tuxedo jacket, but I’ll take Emma Stone’s too, while I’m at it.

EMMA STONE in Rome
blouse and skirt by Dolce & Gabbana, shoes by Valentino

Throw this one Duchess Kate’s way and I’d be down. I just don’t love it on Emma.

Ladies and gentlemen… LIZA MINNELLI!

I don’t care how much it costs – it’s still a twisted-up garbage bag.

KATE BOSWORTH in New York City
gown by Katie Ermilio, purse by Rauwolf

Photo: Neilson Barnard/Getty

I guess there’s nothing wrong with this look, per se, but it just seems so aggressively Beauty Queen Barbie that I’m naturally inclined to flinch when I see it.

CATHERINE, DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE in Katoomba, Australia
dress by Diane von Furstenberg, shoes by Stuart Weitzman

Photo: James Whatling/Splash News

Adorable, and 10% of the world’s population will be wearing this (or a knock-off) by Memorial Day.

KATE MARA in Los Angeles
dress by Valentino, shoes by Jimmy Choo

Photo: Jim Smeal/BEImages

This looks more like a pillow case or a flying carpet than a dress, but Kate is pulling it off surprisingly well. (The shoes help.)

FAN BINGBING in Beijing
gown by Elie Saab, purse by Louis Vuitton

Photo: Feng Li/Getty

I’m generally in love with everything Fan Bingbing wears, but this isn’t quite doing it for me. The fit is off – it’s too long and loose absolutely everywhere – and I really don’t like this dishwater-gray color on her. It’s a beautiful gown on its own, but it was the wrong choice for her.

gown by Zhang Shuai, purse by Louis Vuitton

Eh. Nothing I haven’t seen before. I do like the super-flattering waistband, though.

JORDANA BREWSTER in Los Angeles
top by Kate Spade, pants by Monique Lhuillier, purse by Emm Kuo, shoes by Jimmy Choo

Photo: Getty

Yes, Jordana, your pants are adorable, but you don’t need to look so smug about it.

CHRISTINA HENRICKS in Los Angeles
purse and shoes by Jimmy Choo

Photo: Donato Sardella/Getty

Christina always seems to be ruining perfectly good outfits with shoes that look like torture devices. Well, at least she’s consistent.

CHLOË MORETZ in New York City
dress by Carven

Photo: Dimitrios Kabouris/Getty

This dress essentially has a bib. I really do want to like it, but… it has a bib.

JANUARY JONES in Los Angeles
purse and shoes by Jimmy Choo

Your fourteen-year-old TV daughter took top billing on this post, attending the same event as you, and you’re here at the bottom of the barrel, January. You need to rethink your choices.
