The Week in Celebrity Fashion, Part 1

It’s as good a time as any for judging, dear readers.

FAN BINGBING in Paris
gown and purse by Louis Vuitton

Ms. Fan Bingbing is simply tearing it up in that bright yellow color. I love the neckline, the sleeves, the pockets on the dress, the earrings, and that adorable little purse.

EDDIE REDMAYNE at the Producers’ Guild Awards
tuxedo by Burberry

Even your crooked little bow tie is adorable, Eddie.

LEELEE SOBIESKI in Paris
top, skirt, and shoes by Christian Dior

I obviously adore the full-stop divaliciousness of this dramatic gown. And while I think those bizarre stocking-shoes are fashion-forward and interesting, I don’t think they work at all with the length, colors, or shape of that skirt. But I love the way this feels both vintage and futuristic at the same time.

ROSE BYRNE in London
dress by Balenciaga, purse by Thale Blanc, shoes by Charlotte Olympia

Photo: Doug Peters/PA/Abaca

Possibly an all-time high from Rose Byrne. That shade of pink is heavenly on her, and I love the draped neckline, the dropped waist, even the slightly odd length of the skirt. The shoes and purse keep the look funky and modern rather than girly and innocent, which I appreciate.

DITA VON TEESE in Paris
dress by Elie Saab, shoes by Christian Louboutin

Dita von Teese giving us some high fashion Black Swan sex appeal. I am all about this stunning dress, and that neckline is absolutely incredible on her, as are the lace sleeves.

KIERNAN SHIPKA in Los Angeles
dress by Oscar de la Renta, shoes by Rupert Sanderson

Flawless.

TAYLOR SWIFT in Madrid
dress by Kaufmanfranco, shoes by Christian Louboutin

A sexy, fashion-forward neckline? A totally funky and fabulous pair of shoes? Who are you, and what have you done with Taylor Swift?!

JENNIFER LOPEZ in New York City
dress, purse, and shoes by Lanvin

Photo: Henry Lamb/Photowire/BEImages

The matchy-matchiness of it is downright absurd, but this is Jennifer Lopez we’re talking about. She’s going to make sure every piece of her perfectly white outfit is perfectly gilded and accessorized with an entire European nation’s worth of diamonds. But this dress looks killer on her, and I can’t pretend I don’t love those shoes.

JENNIFER LOPEZ in Las Vegas
gown by Kaufmanfranco, purse by Salvatore Ferragamo

That length is fucking ridiculous, Jennifer. This is all-around unflattering, but there’s no reason for someone this rich to wear something that fits so poorly.

CHLOË MORETZ in Los Angeles
suit, blouse, and shoes by Dolce & Gabbana

Photo: All Access/Splash News

Love the jacket, but I’m never a fan of these buttoned-up blouses. The pants would be cuter if they fit her just a little bit better and sat a little bit lower on her hips, though.

SARAH JESSICA PARKER in New York City
coat by Giambattista Valli, dress by Mary Katrantzou, purse by Lanvin, shoes by Jean-Michel Cazabat

Photo: Splash News

I don’t advice anyone to leave the house wearing this many different prints, but I have to respect SJP for going all-out with it. I love every single piece she’s wearing, but she looks vaguely like a mental patient when she wears them all together.

JESSICA ALBA at the Sundance Film Festival
dress, purse, and shoes by Christian Dior

Photo: George Pimentel/Getty

The shoes/stockings combo is a little prissy, and the similarly schoolgirl dress doesn’t help. It’s a cute look, but it’d be cuter on Chloë Moretz.

JESSICA ALBA at the Producers’ Guild Awards
gown by Elie Saab, purse by Roger Vivier, shoes by Casadei

Photo: Jason Kempin/Getty

Her hair and makeup have never looked worse, and nothing ruins a perfect black Elie Saab evening gown quite like Gumby-green nail polish.

JENNIFER GARNER at the Producers’ Guild Awards
dress by Oscar de la Renta, purse by Roger Vivier, shoes by Brian Atwood

Photo: Jason Kempin/Getty

Cute enough, but still incredibly dull and kind of dated, like Jennifer Garner has time-traveled here from a red carpet in 2009.

DIANE KRUGER at the Chanel couture show in Paris
dress, beret, and purse by Chanel, shoes by Brian Atwood

Photo: InStyle.com

I love almost everything Diane dishes out, but her beret/braid combo looks absurd, and her farm girl/Peter Pan hybrid dress is absolutely stupid.

ANNE HATHAWAY at the Producers’ Guild Awards
dress by Erdem, purse by Christian Louboutin, shoes by Giuseppe Zanotti

Photo: Jim Smeal/BEImages

Awful. I am revoking my desire for you to win an Oscar, Annie.

DAKOTA FANNING at the Sundance Film Festival
top by Miu Miu, skirt by Louis Vuitton, shoes by Azzedine Alaïa

Photo: Jason Merritt/Getty

The proportions of the top and skirt are completely weird, and though I think blue and black can go together nicely, this isn’t the way to do it. And those booties are just kind of fugly.

AMANDA SEYFRIED at the Producers’ Guild Awards
dress by Roland Mouret, purse and shoes by Jimmy Choo

Photo: Jason Kempin/Getty

Seriously, ladies of Les Mis? Are you really going to sit back and let Eddie Redmayne out-fierce you at every single awards show this season? Have you just given up entirely?

KATE BOSWORTH at the Sundance Film Festival
top, skirt, belt, purse, and shoes by Calvin Klein

Photo: George Pimentel/Getty

I really want to like this, but it so desperately screams “fashion victim.” The boots are just absurd, especially with the matching belt and collar. And the proportions of the top and skirt don’t make any sense whatsoever. This is just a mess.

HAILEE STEINFELD at the Chanel couture show in Paris
sweater, hat, and purse by Chanel, shoes by Christian Louboutin

Photo: Dominique Charriau/WireImage

Oh, Hailee, darling. I know not everyone can be Kiernan Shipka, but you’re wearing a trash bag as a skirt. You’re carrying a bright yellow leg clutch. Your hair looks absolutely ridiculous, and your Newsies cap is kind of embarrassing. Get it together, darling.
